THE LEGEND OF (MY) READING ..

I am a reading junkie. Although, I wish I really had more time and motivation to read more now a days. Anything I get my hands into, I read. And by that, I don't necessarily mean, I finish it. Well, for some I do. For the others, either I start then proceed to the middle, then the end or I just read some parts then just leave the rest hanging. Haha!

I started with my school books. Whenever I receive my supply after enrollment, i would instantly go through them and read. Then, i was fascinated with Archie and the whole gang of Riverdale. I had my own share of Nancy Drew and Sweet Valley Kids moments and got easily attached to Reader's digest. Biographies interest me, science fiction always makes me ask "what was that about again?", cheesy reads makes me gooey all over, facts, trivia, nice-to-knows never fail to get my attention. From this to that, anything for me is reading material.

One day my dad brought home a whole load of books that he got from a friends house. Hard bound, classic books. They smelled old, they had molds and were dusty but I didn't care. It was heaven in all its dusty glory. At one time after that, I had a friend who had really nice paperbacks sent to her by her grandmother from the US and since that day, I stayed in their house for extended periods for two reasons - her mom asked me to practice reading with her and the chance borrow her books of course. She had a whole collection and I was jealous. This made my old hard bound books now out of place. I left them in the bookshelf to collect molds and even more dust.

Then When I was 12 my dad enrolled me in taekwondo classes for the summer and every time after class, I would drop by the Book Sale store on my way home. There, I would browse, go over the summary and flip through the pictures of every book, magazine, literature's. I got hold of my first Baby-sitters club and then got hooked that I completed the first 20 books of the series then again, got bored and left the rest of it hanging, as how my reading habit goes. Up to this day, it happens.

So there goes, the legend of my love for reading. Bow! ... But wait, there's more!

I'm looking into the future and thinking that If I  get to be a famous blogger then I'll have to sort out my random entries into categories to make my blogsite easier to browse -- and I was thinking of a tab that says "GRETCHEN'S READING CLUB" (Inspired by Oprah's Book Club. duh!) or something like that -- this would contain all my random thoughts on the random things I've read. Then maybe, all my future 40K followers will share their musings too! Nice huh?  ..

I'm soooo excited about this and for a lot more things in my life right now. I nominate myself as club president ..
