SEVENTEEN (the post-birthday blog)

I can’t believe I’m already 28! I feel .. old! Hahaha! – Ok, a bit old, nonetheless I am undoubtedly in my best disposition so far – Physically? Nah. No abs yet, but I can do 40 well-done sit-ups. My arms are still flabby but my best push-up record is 22. My legs will still give you an idea that I grew up in the mountains so then I can do a lot of walking and running but when my tendons give up they get inflamed and I have to walk limping like an old lady and will have a valid excuse not to attend boot camp (teehee!). Oh! and I still haven’t had another ultrasound done yet to check whether that cyst in my uterus still exists but I feel strong and fit and healthy so I’m all good. Emotionally?
Well, I didn’t shed a single tear when I watched “Starting Over Again” (remember that movie starring Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual)! Ha! How about that!? Haha! Ang babaw pala ng basehan ng emotional stability ko after all?! Haha. I kid! I kid! My emotions are well in place when they need to. Most of the time. Naku naman! I’ve been through major emotional mayhem in the past so if I grew older and have never learned a thing or two from that and if that didn’t make me tough little cookie, eh kawawa naman na me diba? Haha. So ya, not crying over everything just because is already a big deal for my emotional state. Haha!

Now, to kick-off the greatness that is to come in the coming days and in the light of the this blog post of that I have to stand up for, here are SEVENTEEN RANDOM THINGS of my 28th, about being 28th and everything in between– accompanied by pictures (finally) and of course my random pa-deep musings. Haha!

When the birthday blues was kicking-in, it was with the thought that I could possibly spend the day alone and doing nothing! And that, was, depressing! So I prayed. I asked that in whatever possible way, I wanted:

1. a birthday salubong ...

2. a fulfilling and joyful day ...

3. a simple birthday dinner ...

4.  a post-birthday activity/ties

5.  and an Easter Sunday post-birthday brunch ... by the beach :p

6. ... and any sort of surprise will do too, hehe ...

Malakas talaga ang birthday celebrants kay Lord because he granted me all these! Ahhh. Prayers, they totally work astonishingly.

7. The Salvation Army Experience was my birthday gift to myself. I initially wanted to buy myself a bag, or a new pair of shoes, or maybe another lomo camera -- but this was far better than any material thing I could ever wish for on my day. I was thanked by the SA community for the volunteer work I did, but truth is, it is I who should be and is truly thankful because by allowing me to spend an afternoon with them, made my heart joyful and my day totally fulfilled.

PROPS TO YOU TOO VANESSA! :) She didn't know what I was up to that day, sumama lang!
I expected her to complain and all but she did it anyway! Hence, you passed the test of trust and friendship! LOL!
THANKS FOR DOING THIS!

8. Originally, I planned to be home for my birthday but the universe wanted me to spend it here in Singapore, so Singapura it is! April 17th fell on a Thursday, and not just an ordinary Thursday, it was Holy Thursday! And Since I can’t throw a party or discreetly pressure my friends to prepare a surprise, party for me, I just decided to take leave on that day but without a definite plan yet. I didn’t mind working on my birthday, I just thought I don’t want to get scolding and stressed from work on that day. Genius ya? there! A lesson in life from the older, better, wiser me! hahaha!

9. When your friends spend a little more time and effort and are willing to go the extra mile for you -- you are sure that God has indeed chosen the right people to be a part of your life.

4 words for this lady: THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! .. plus isa pa: SOBRA! :)))

BLOCK 6: alam ko napasubo lang kayo sa pakulo ni Vanessa, haha! THANK YOU housemates!

the surprise team! -- i expected a surprise, yknow naman me! hahaha!
GOOD JOB on the twist you guys! galing! saya! :)

10. ... And these are the same people who I am willing to go the extra mile for too!

11.When God doesn't give you your love life for your birthday yet, to jump start your kilig, he surprises you first with LUKE LANDRIGAN! hahahaha!

[the shortest but sweetest 3-second birthday greeting. the wind in his hair says it all! haha! video courtesy to my pea, Angelica Basco -- alam ko ang tindi ng pinagdaanan mo for this! iloveyoutalagaforevs!]

12. ... and gives you more loving from the guys who matter more in your life right now.

13. ... and a whole lot more loving and birthday wishes from family and friends via social media! Thank you facebook for reminding everyone of my birthday and to Instagram for letting me post "birthday-ko-kaya-papansin-ako" photos! :p -- THANKYOU to EVERYONE who remembered, who sent messages, who did not know but who still took the time to type in a greeting! I am loved indeed!

14. ... At 28, I am definitely going to start doing the rest and make sure I finish it in .. uh-oh! the next 2 years! Haha! (Others has already been ticked off on the list anyway ... hehe)

15. Oh! ... and a lot more possibilities and dreams to fulfill this year! CHEERS to that ....

   16. Birthday Alone Times. I had 4 hours of this on the 17th -- woke up at 6:30 am, went to church to pray for everything and anything, sat at a nearby coffee shop to do some thinking, thanking and more thinking! haha -- I realized birthday alone times are nice and uplifting -- or only for this age, I guess! Haha!

  17. I went to bed that night with the thought that I am truly loved and blessed more than I expected and more than I deserved to be! I must have done something good to be deserving of this wonderful life! Deserving or not of his grace, God still blessed me with all that I am and have now and for that, I am thankful everyday!

So yep, I am officially in the late twenties, the 28’s – the age of sudden clarity, the age which is still in the acceptable zone of being single but ironically the age where peer pressure apparently is still present especially when the invitations for engagements, bridal showers and weddings start coming in .. Oh! crap, this could also be the stage when you could probably hear your 18-year old self mocking the 28 year old you! Haha!

Oh! C'mon! I'm just 2 weeks into it and so far, so good! I'm giving my self the chance to adjust to old age so I can have the proper right to passage. Hahaha!

Whew! but then again, they say that being 28 is one of the best years. I still have 300++ days to look forward to. Better, brighter things are yet to come and again I claim, Life in 28-zone is going to be exciting! :)
